It was jubilation galore at the office Secretariat of the Cooperative Rating & Award Society of Nigeria (CRASoN) when the good news of the Federal Government of Nigeria’s Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Development (FMARD) endorsed the Nigerian National Cooperative Awards and Project CoopCOUNT which is also to be supervised by the Federal Department of Cooperatives under the aegis of FMARD as the regulatory body in charge of all cooperatives operational at the National Levels.
The Honorable Minister, Chief Audu Ogbeh OFR personally signed the letter of endorsement and moral support of the Nigerian National Cooperative Award and project CoopCOUNT. In his lettered words, he commended the effort of the leadership and management of CRASoN for instituting the National Cooperative Award 2018 aimed at promoting sustainable cooperative enterprises development, and excellence in cooperative management/governance in Nigeria.
He opined that undoubtedly, the cooperative movement was a strong pillar of the agricultural sector in the past when the sector flourished, as the mainstay of the national economy. He further stated, its obvious cooperatives still remains an important pillar of the sector, bearing in mind his resolve and determined effort to restore its pride as the engine of growth and diversification in our nation.
The Honorable Minister said accordingly, given the relevance of the cooperative awards to the sustained growth of the cooperative movement in Nigeria, and the imperative of mobilizing cooperative societies in the country towards the revitalization of the agricultural sector, he was pleased to identify and endorsed the National Cooperative Awards 2018 as CRASoN requested of him.
