Following the endorsement of the Cooperative Rating & Award Society of Nigeria (CRASoN) project by Chief Audu Ogbeh, OFR Honorable Minister, Federal Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Development, the management committee of the rating and award institution led by the President of the body, pay a courtesy visit to Engr. Akintoye Akintola the Federal Director of Cooperatives (FDC) which directorate is to supervised the whole processes of the project being the supervisory body for cooperatives operating at the National Levels advised that CRASoN should ensure a very open, honest and democratic processes in arriving at winners of the award in order to earn their credibility and sustain its purpose of redefining cooperative operations in Nigeria. He further admonished and encouraged cooperatives and cooperators alike across the nation to take part in this maiden edition of the Nigerian National Cooperative Awards saying this initiative will benefit the participants in so many ways apart from giving them a leverage to benchmark each other to aid cooperative development plans, it will also spur even development within the nation.
More so, projecting all contributions and achievements of each cooperatives which in turn yields some accolades. National recognition, enhanced capacity building of leaders of each cooperatives and increased funding opportunities from development partners and donor agencies, collation of data that would aid better analysis of cooperatives and their social impact to the nation.
In response to the word of admonitions and encouragement, the President of CRASoN – Mr. Victor Oyegoke was full of excitement and thankful to God for the grace and privilege to be leading this cause at a time like this in the history of our nation. He promised to do everything within his power as given by God to ensure the success of the event and said that the CRASoN College of Jurors are made of Integrity and highly principled people who had several years of experiences and expertise in Cooperative Business Enterprises who has leave their mark for people like us to follow as a role model.
