This is a project initiated in line with the World Co-operative Monitor (WCM) to showcase the socio-economic impact of the largest 360 co-operative societies in Nigeria.
The WCM project is an International Co-operative Alliance (The Alliance) initiative with the scientific support of the European Research Institute on Co-operative and Social Enterprises (EURICSE) and a scientific committee composed of international researchers and experts. The project builds on the work started by the ICA with the Global 300, which brought together economic information on 300 largest co-operative and mutual organisations in the world.
Project CoopCOUNT® ‘Naija360-National Co-operative Directory’ just like World Co-operative Monitor project, has an intent to redefine a new process of data collection, integration, and analysis, culminating in the creation of an annually updated database containing economic and other social data to monitor and demonstrate both the economic and social impact of 360 largest co-operatives in Nigeria and as well monitor and see the level of impact all the government (Federal & States) co-operative regulatory and educational institutions has on the promotion, organization, development coupled with the sustainability of Co-operatives within their jurisdiction. This will also be the basis for awarding the most outstanding co-operative organizations annually as we promote them to the world. Hence it’s all about showcasing the socio-economic impact of Co-operatives!
