This is a sequel to my write up of yesterday that sound like a suicide note in disguised. For many have reached out to me thinking along the lines but it’s just a wake up call that SUICIDE is real and of recent times in Nigeria, it’s been frequently heard on news and social media as many are involve.

Let me share a true life story, in 1983, at age 7 that was the first time the closest person to me then died of Suicide… Then I never knew what it is all about, but growing older year in year out, I miss him daily but kept it with me never told anyone for over 36years until you reading it now … I tried never to allow the negative thought come into me as I develop positivity in all situations I found my self in life. Although, it might affect me but for a while, I have over the years learn to put my trust in God alone even when looking up to men as the one God will send your way… And when they failed you which of course they would especially the ones closer to you that you loved so much and respected a lot to Share your creative ideas with thinking they would support your dreams of becoming someone to be reckon with in life – Don’t give up, for it is only our loved ones that can hurt us To the bone marrow. So being in such situations severally, have learnt to forgive and move on. So, I now know Suicide is NEVER an OPTION, for me or for you … I wrote a Book COOPERATION: The Path Way to Success which was launched during our maiden edition of the Nigerian National Cooperative Awards last year, it is a book for every one to read, so that we can give hope to the hopeless who might want to commit Suicide because of what they term failures in life… I read the book myself often time to let me see the BIG PICTURE in life hence, SUICIDE is never an OPTION for anyone…

Up until now I still ask why Suicide? when I hear about people committing Suicide, or have Suicidal thoughts or a Survival victim… It hurts more and like it is with me, it is their loved ones, kids, wife, family and friends left behind that is pained and suffers the most with the traumas and hustling to make up in life, why then Suicide?
CAUSES & SYMPTOMS
There are several causes of Suicidal thoughts. Usually, when you are faced with an overwhelming Life Situation and the feeling of you not able to cope with it or move on sets in, the resultant effect is Depression which Might led to Suicidal Thoughts and later on Suicide when it’s fully blown with no one to help with the right words of encouragement and hope.
If you don’t have hope for the future, you may mistakenly think suicide is a solution. You may experience a sort of tunnel vision, where in the middle of a crisis you believe suicide is the only way out.
Some school of thought linked genetic to suicide. People who complete suicide or who have suicidal thoughts or behavior are more likely to have a family history of suicide i.e. if anyone in your family or blood line have committed suicide in the past there is possibility of you being affected.
Suicide warning signs or suicidal thoughts include but not limited to the followings:
- Social Withdrawals.
Feelings of being secluded on your own and not wanting to be with anyone.
- Always talking about suicide — e.g. Saying such words as “I’m tired of life,” “Life has no meaning again,” “What am I living for” “I’m going to kill myself,” “I wish I were dead” or “I wish I hadn’t been born”
- Constant Mood Swings. e.g. being emotionally stable now and Unstable within the next Minute, deeply discouraged.
- Feeling trapped or hopeless about a situation When a sudden or unexpected event happens that breaks you down
- Try getting the means to take your own life. e.g. getting a thick rope for hanging, buying poison to drink or stockpiling pills for overdose
- Incessant Alcohol or Drugs abuse
- Change in usual routine, including eating or sleeping patterns
- Doing risky or Self-destructive things. e.g. using drugs anyhow or driving dangerously & recklessly
- Giving away belongings or getting affairs in order when there’s no other logical explanation for doing this
- Saying goodbye to people as if they won’t be seen again
- Being severely anxious or agitated, particularly when experiencing some of the warning signs listed above
Warning signs aren’t always obvious, and they may vary from person to person. Some people make their intentions clear, while others keep suicidal thoughts and feelings secret.
In conclusion, know that Suicide is real. Taking your own life, is a tragic reaction to stressful life situations — and all the more tragic because suicide can be prevented. Whether you’re considering suicide or know someone who feels suicidal, learn from the above stated suicide warning signs and how to reach out for immediate help and professional treatment. You may save a life — your own or someone else’s.
