SIKAIYE OLUWASEUN TEMITOPE (Mrs.)

Sikaiye Oluwaseun Temitope was born in Lagos into the family of late Mr & Mrs Adeyoju.  Her father was a teacher, an educationist and she had a very strict Christian Family background.. She attended her primary and secondary schools at Surulere Baptist Primary school, and Lagos African Girls Grammar School, Surulere respectively, then to Lagos State School of Nursing. She finished in 1988, and went on to Lagos State School of Midwifery and also finished in 1990.

In her further quest for education she attended LUTH Post Basic Nursing School of Peri-Operatives in 1996. Two years after in 1998, She was sent to Israel by Lagos State for training in Trauma and Disaster Management at Sorasyki University Tel Aviv.

Her believe for personal development, and being a child of educationists, this propelled her to further continue with her studies, She went to University of Lagos for a degree in Health Education. While studying there, Lagos State Government sent her to obtain a Diploma course in Nursing Administration and Management at the University of Benin; she was then juggling between the University of Lagos and University of Benin. After completing the courses, she rested for a while and went for her Master’s in Public Health from University of Lagos. The passion she had for her noble profession made her obtained another Degree in Nursing from Babcock University in 2016 and also acquired an MSc in Nursing from same Institution afterwards.

CAREER PATH & PROFESSIONAL GROWTH:

Mrs. Sikaiye started working with the Lagos State Government as a Staff Nurse/Midwife 1991 and has grown through the public service ladder to Deputy Director Nursing, which is her current position as at this production.

Professionally, she is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honour Society of Nursing. Member, International Tobacco Nursing Society and a Fellow of West African College of Nursing

 HER SOJOURN INTO THE COOPERATIVE WORLD AND ACHIEVEMENTS

She was taught the values and importance of being in a Cooperative by her parents especially her Mother from an early  stage, hence her joining the Cooperative early in her working life. when HMB Senior Staff CMS Ltd (LASCOMED) now The Medicals CMS Ltd. Lagos Island) – her primary cooperative society was established in 1993, she immediately joined the society at Ebute-Meta Health Centre were she was working then, She later became the LASCOMED Unit Representative for Lagos State Emergency Medical Services (LASEMS) in 1999. While serving as a Unit Representative, she was very active and her selfless service prompted her people to recommend her to go for the post of LASCOMED Secretary in 2009, which she won, She further went on to contest for the post of Treasurer won and after that, went for the President of LASCOMED in 2013 and Succeeded, under her leadership the society witnessed significant growth and development, with loads of achievements recorded to the glory of God, to mention but few are the followings;

  1. Construction and commissioning of LASCOMED Estate at Laiye-Ode, Ikorodu – a 97 Housing Units with A Standard Hospital building within the Estate. This is a great feat, First of its Kind in Nigeria.
  2. Establishment of an interactive Website lascomed.coop to give LASCOMED an Online Presence
  3. Maximization of the use of Social and Personal Media to keep information flow open among members to aid our open door policy
  4. Giving of Customized Gifts & Souvenirs to Retirees amongst members
  5. Provides Social and Emotional support to members
  6. Provision of Insurance Package for members

Sikaiye’s giant strides and achievements speaks volume within her primary society’s Union, the Lagos Island Cooperative Multipurpose Cooperative Union (LIMCU) that She was sorted out to come lead the Union where she was elected into the Leadership of LIMCU as the President in 2016 and was re-elected last year, being the Incumbent at LIMCU some of her achievement are as follows;

  1. Establishment of a Branded LIMCU “Coop Rice” an Investment into Agriculture that yielded several turnovers for the Union
  2. Foray into the Transportation Business, buying fleets of Cars for the Uber platform
  3. Free Seminar to Union Members
  4. Health Screening and Treatments Outreach Program
  5. Mediation and Conflict Resolution  within the Union
  6. Securing Loans for some primary societies within the Union and;
  7. Encouraging cooperation  among primary cooperative societies  under LIMCU in terms of Joint Ventures etc
  8. Encouraged and Facilitated the most outstanding and coordinated Hybrid Cooperative Union Retreat for Six unions ever in the annuls of Coop Retreat in Lagos State.

Mrs. Sikaiye remains an enigma and a role model in the cooperative movement of Lagos State and Nigeria at large. Going by her commitment as a board member of Lagos State Cooperative Federation (LASCOFED) to see to the huge success recorded by the administration that build a befitting LASCOFED Multipurpose Office Complex
